Anthony Spadavecchia

Anthony is the Managing Director of BE Switchcraft following his purchase of BE Switchcraft in mid 2017.

Anthony holds a degree in Software / Electrical Engineering and a Certificate III in Electrotechnology. His previous roles at Schneider Electric and IPD Group complement his wide experience in business and management.

His focus will build on our current strengths by further investment in testing and certification and our continued ability to deliver hand crafted, high-quality solutions that will become an integral part of the exciting building projects of the future.

Matt Schmidt

Production Manager
Matt came to BE Switchcraft in 2005 as a trade assistant and casual labourer in our sheetmetal department. He undertook university studies in construction management for over two years over a period of time before returning to full-time work with us in 2010. In 2014 Matt was chosen to take responsibility for production management across the  two departments based on his aptitude and inclusive manner. Matt works closely with the electrical and sheetmetal departments to ensure that every product meets the quality standards we are known for. Much of his work though, is in developing people and sharing the knowledge stored within every employee with experience that can help us all grow. He regularly seeks advice and always takes forward concepts and processes that will make us more efficient.

Matt’s aptitude to work and collaboration has earned him good deal of respect from more senior people. This is because through better efficiency and the sharing of knowledge, the business grows and shares the human capital with hundreds of years of knowledge.

Matt has recently implemented a greater use of Solidworks as a means to streamline production processes and reduce time and wastage. he is looking to develop his skills more and study to broaden his own knowledge.

Tom Say

Estimating Manager

Tom is a qualified electrician and has been with the team since mid-2016. He brings over 10 years of varied experience in design, estimating, project management and the construction of electrical switchboards, all attributes that enhance our service to our clients. He has worked on projects in many areas such as mining, oil & gas, water authorities, defence, as well as distribution & motor control projects in the commercial & industrial sectors across Australia & the Asia-Pacific.

His willingness to assist and eagerness to learn are attributes valuable to our future and place him well to be able to provide accurate pricing solutions and guidance to our clients. Tom’s pleasant nature and great attitude are already adding to our positive culture throughout the company.

In 2021 Tom took the role of Estimating Manager, overseeing the estimating team to ensure BE customers receive prompt service, accurate tenders & competitive pricing.

Alex Lusty

Design Manager

Alex commenced her electrical apprenticeship in 2008 and after completing this and other ancillary courses, was promoted to the estimating team. After working in estimating for 6 years, in 2017 Alex transferred to the design and drafting department.

Drafting has taught her a completely new skill set and combined with her estimating experience, Alex is able to tailor a solution specific to the customer’s needs. Alex enjoys working closely with the customers whilst building relationships and designing a high-quality product.

In 2021, Alex began the role of Design Manager. She will be overseeing the design team to ensure our switchboards are designed to meet the current standards and project schedules.

Greg Hunt

Purchasing Manager

Greg comes to BE Switchcraft after a long career in the electrical industry as a tradesman, contractor, power station designer and project manager followed by over 30 years in the sales and application of Low Voltage and Medium Voltage switchgear and automation systems.

Greg has returned to his manufacturing roots as Purchasing Manager. He brings a wealth of both commercial and technical knowledge from a background with multi-national corporations and deep involvement in the switchboard and switchgear industry.

His most recent role, prior to BE Switchcraft, was involved with Utilities and Smart grid automaton, which is a particular interest.

Mark Henry


Mark holds Certificate 3 in Electrotechnology (Electronics & TV service), Electrotechnology (Electrician), and Certificate 4 Information Technology. He is also a qualified electrician and holds open data cabling license with endorsements for Structured Cabling, Coaxial and Optical Fibre.

His previous roles at Schneider Electric, Dawson Communications and Harvey Norman Commercial complement his experience in Lighting Control and Energy Management Systems.

His is focused in delivering intelligent systems, solutions and technology to our customers.



Gary Plane

BE Profile Cutting Sales Manager
Gary joined BE Switchcraft in 1990 as an apprentice sheetmetal worker. After spending 9 years in the sheetmetal department he moved over to the electrical workshop and then commenced an electrical apprenticeship which completes his dual trade qualifications.

Gary enjoys looking at plans and breaking them down into a assembled product. Like many other team members, he has pleasure in working in any production role and now enjoys the newer challenges of drafting the next generation of boards and related products.

In 2021 Gary is now the Sales Manager of our BE Profile Cutting Services. This role sees Gary working closely with new an existing clients, creating opportunities for new work and expanding our range of services to our clients

Craig Barker


Electrical Supervisor
Craig is a second generation employee to the BE Switchcraft family and started as an electrical apprentice in 2003. Craig has been an integral senior electrician on the shop floor and has worked on many of the larger Switchboards during his career.  Craig’s ability to manage a team was identified by management and he continued to study and improve his skills as an electrical team leader. In 2017 Craig commenced as Electrical Team supervisor and he continues to drive the electrical workshop in producing high-quality switchboards.

Joe Juros

Sheetmetal Foreman
Joe started as a 17 year old in 1995. Now in 2015, he has 20 years of experience and is sheetmetal foreman. He enjoys the atmosphere and has made many friends in the business. He believes that the people you work with can be your friends and enjoys time spent together and at play.

Joe works closely with Matt to schedule work throughout the day and leads a team of welders, painters and sheetmetal workers. He has performed all the tasks in our sheetmetal shop and this is a critical element to successfully running a 20 plus team.

Joe sees the business growing into the future and is excited about what the future holds. With BE Switchcraft’s skills in custom building, the business will grow its work against local, interstate and overseas competition.

Gilbert Zecchel

Electrical Workshop 2IC
Gilbert is the longest serving member of our team and was critical to the company’s dedication to quality.

He commenced his time as an apprentice electrician in 1975 still remains a highly valuable member of the team.

His experience and attention to detail has been passed on to our apprentices and contributes daily to the high quality standards across the business.
Highly respected by his peers, Gilbert continues to share his knowledge with the younger members of the team.

Gilbert was a Director of the business from 1986 – 2017.
